    Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do home visits?
Therapy sessions usually take place in my clinic room in Leatherhead or Cobham. Sometimes however, the nature of the problem for which treatment is being sought inhibits or prevents a person from travelling or their difficulties are centred very much around the home environment. Under such circumstances, home visits will be considered. The fee charged for such sessions would be increased to take account of the extra time involved and my travel costs.

Do you offer evening appointments?
Yes, in addition to appointments during the day, I am able to offer a number of evening appointments in both Cobham and Leatherhead. My last appointment in Cobham is at 8.30pm and in Leatherhead at 8.00pm.

How many sessions will I need?
Generally, a course of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or EMDR would last for 6 to 12 sessions. However it is possible to achieve positive results in fewer sessions, for example with specific phobias. I will try to give you an indication as to how many sessions we might need following an initial assessment.

Do you have a preferred therapeutic approach to treatment?
No. With several years of clinical practice behind me and informed by ongoing continuing professional development training, I draw upon current CBT and EMDR knowledge and use the approach I think is most likely to work in a given situation. In addition to a more traditional CBT approach, I may use Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) or one of the "third wave" mindfulness based CBT approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MBCT).
